Sage Meadow is one of the newer D.R. Horton residential developments in South Austin. Take Slaughter Lane either west from IH-35 or east from Mopac (Loop 1) to find Sage Meadow. It is located on the north side of Slaughter Lane between Manchaca Road and S. 1st St. The entrance to Sage Meadow Austin is marked by the very attractive “monument” featured on the photo page of this site.

Sage Meadow | Amenities

Sage Meadow features its own community park with play equipment for children and picnic facilities. The neighborhood is located near the Mary Moore Searight Metro Park which has many features for families and outdoor enjoyment, including picnic facilities, sports courts and a disc golf course. The Sage Meadow community is home to a variety of professionals and families who enjoy the location and the new and newish homes that Sage Meadow offers.

Sage Meadow | Homes

The development of Sage Meadow in South Austin was started in mid-2009. The builder, D.R. Horton, is working toward the completion of the first stage of home construction. A second phase, bring the total number of homes in Sage Meadow to over 160, will be developed in the future.

The homes in Sage Meadow are actually stand-alone condos. Homeowners can choose between a number of home plans, including single- and two-story models. Sage Meadow homes have from just over 1400 to almost 2000 square feet of living space. They are quite modern in their features, including being designed to help owners save on their utility bills.

Externally, the homes have a classic look to them with porches, colorful (pastel) paint, and Hardiplank-type siding. They resemble the homes in two other South Austin developments: Grand Oaks and Sweetwater Glen.

Sage Meadow | Schools

Students living in Sage Meadow, at the time this page was posted in June 2010, attended three schools operated by the Austin Independent School District: Casey Elementary, Paredes Middle School and Akins High School. Potential homeowners should always verify school assignments prior to a home purchase.
